Luminaire Design

Concept Statement: The Unite d Habitation (French, Literally, Housing Unity or Housing Unit) is the name of a modernist residential housing design principle developed by Le Corbusier. My design for the luminaire abstracts Le Corbusier’s housing units and design principles into a visually interesting light fixture. The shape of the fixture emulates the housing unit. The negative space represents the individual units connected with pilotis. The pilotis are also used in a literal sense on two sides holding up the structure.
